Description

The Hawaiian name for sea turtle is honu. This doe-eyed honu is painted in watercolor by Ahonu as a celebration of 150 million years of surviving and thriving on Earth.

The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle is the only indigenous reptile found in Hawaii. For Hawaiians, the Honu is a symbol of good luck, or a guardian spirit, or Amakua. The Honu represents the navigator, and the eternal link between man, the land and the sea.
